Horizon Prevent

Peace of mind begins with knowing.

Genetic cancer prevention from a single blood sample. Modern analysis of circulating tumour DNA looks for genomic alterations that may be detectable before symptoms become apparent.

What we build on

Three pillars the programme rests on

  • Scientific foundation

We work with our international partner AveGene, who develops and provides the genetic analysis technology. Samples are processed within an accredited quality management framework.

  • A standardised process

From taking the sample through to the results, you are guided by a clearly defined procedure. Sequencing and evaluation follow predefined criteria, so the result does not depend on who processed the sample.

  • A partner network

We work with doctors, clinics, laboratories, pharmacies and employers.

Horizon Prevent

Genetic prevention that gives you time to act.

Health prevention is at its most valuable when it can flag a risk at a time when a person feels no symptoms at all.

The Horizon Prevent programme combines modern genetic technology with standardised laboratory processing and variant assessment based on internationally recognised classification frameworks. It thus makes it possible to obtain further information that may serve as a basis for a consultation with a doctor.

  • A single non-invasive blood sample
  • Not limited to one organ
  • Accredited laboratory
  • Two panels by scope
  • A structured report on your results
  • Recommendations discussed with a doctor

How the programme works

Five steps from decision to recommendation

The whole process is clearly set out in advance. At every step you know what is happening and what comes next.

  1. 1

    Choosing a programme

You choose the preventive programme that suits you.

  2. 2

    Blood sample

A small amount of blood is taken in a simple procedure.

  3. 3

    Laboratory analysis

The sample is analysed using AveGene technology.

  4. 4

    Evaluation of results

The results are interpreted by specialists.

  5. 5

    Further recommendations

Together with a doctor, you can decide on any further steps.

About Horizon Genetic

Prevention that is accessible and easy to understand

Horizon Genetic was founded on a simple conviction — modern genetic prevention should not be the privilege of a select few.

As the official distribution partner for AveGene technology, we bring you a programme that combines an international scientific foundation with care and support in the local language.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us most

You choose a suitable panel, a simple blood sample is taken, the sample is analysed using AveGene technology following standardised procedures, and any variants found are assessed against internationally recognised classification frameworks. You can then discuss the results with your doctor and decide on any further steps.

AveGene offers several screening panels. Two are chosen most often. The Colorectal & Lung Cancer Screening Micro Panel provides focused coverage of 18 oncogenes associated with lung and colorectal malignancies. The Complex Genetic Cancer-Screening Test provides broad coverage of 55 oncogenes and more than 126 oncogenic parameters across multiple malignancies. Processing is identical for both; only the scope differs. Which one suits your situation is something we go through at the consultation.

Conventional screening methods examine one specific part of the body. ctDNA analysis in blood is not tied to a single organ, so from one sample it can provide information relating to malignancies in different tissues. It does not replace those methods, however — it complements them, and recommended screening programmes still need to be attended.

No. Horizon Prevent is a preventive programme designed to complement established screening and diagnostic procedures, not to replace them. It does not establish a diagnosis and does not replace a medical examination. The results serve as a basis for a consultation with a doctor.

The sample is processed using AveGene technology within a quality management framework accredited to ISO 15189. The laboratory procedure, sequencing and bioinformatic evaluation all have predefined quality-control criteria, so the result does not depend on who processed the sample.

We handle personal and health data in line with the GDPR and with legislation on health services. We process data only to the extent necessary to provide the service and do not pass it on to third parties for other purposes.
